Fuji Kaze
The Japanese singer-songwriter continues his global ascent with a soulful new track and sold-out shows across continents
Fujii Kaze is entering a new era of tenderness. Today, the Japanese genre-blurring singer-songwriter released his latest single “Love Like This,” a dreamy, introspective ballad that offers another glimpse into his forthcoming third studio album, Prema, due out September 5 via Universal Music Japan/Republic Records.
Backed by a delicate, sun-warmed arrangement, “Love Like This” showcases Kaze’s signature smooth vocals and lyrical sincerity. The track leans into quiet vulnerability while maintaining his knack for subtle groove—a sound that feels both grounded and expansive. Reflecting on the track, Kaze shared: “What is the purest form of love? And the supreme bliss it brings? I guess I don’t know it yet, but in this song, I pretended I did.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Aerin Moreno (Tate McRae, LISA, Maroon 5), mirrors the song’s emotional ambiguity. With soft, natural lighting and cinematic intimacy, the visual explores the complexity of love, longing, and the spaces in between. Like much of Kaze’s work, it captures feelings too elusive to be put into words, translating them into texture, gesture, and atmosphere.
“Love Like This” follows the release of lead single “Hachikō,” which marked Kaze’s return after a three-year hiatus since his acclaimed 2022 album LOVE ALL SERVE ALL. The song’s release generated an international frenzy, most notably at a surprise fan event in Bangkok where over 10,000 people turned up in the pouring rain—a testament to his steadily growing global reach.
Kaze’s momentum has only accelerated from there. He just wrapped a sold-out European tour with stops in Berlin, Paris, and London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and made his debut at some of Europe’s most prestigious music festivals, including Roskilde (Denmark), NN North Sea Jazz (Netherlands), and Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland).
Now, the singer is bringing his world tour to the U.S., beginning with a sold-out Lollapalooza aftershow tonight at Chicago’s Vic Theatre. Tomorrow, he’ll make his long-awaited debut at the Lollapalooza festival itself, further introducing his eclectic, emotionally rich music to new audiences in North America.
With Prema, which means “love” in Sanskrit, Kaze leans into both linguistic and emotional universality. The album will include nine English-language tracks and will be available in multiple physical formats. The standard CD comes in a soft tri-fold paper sleeve with a full booklet containing Japanese lyric translations. The vinyl edition features a single-color pressing housed in a gatefold jacket, designed to offer a distinct listening experience from the CD.
For collectors and longtime fans, the limited first edition of Prema includes a bonus disc titled Pre: Prema—a seven-track set featuring highlights like the global hit “Michi Teyu Ku (Overflowing),” the A.G. Cook-produced “Hana,” and a new unreleased track, “It’s Alright.” The deluxe edition also comes with a double-sided poster, making it a coveted item for anyone following Kaze’s deeply personal yet globally resonant journey.
As he continues to bring his sound to bigger stages and broader audiences, Fujii Kaze remains impossible to categorize—and that’s precisely the point. With “Love Like This,” he doesn’t just ask what love is; he invites us to feel it, if only for a moment.
