Naked Lungs
Three years after their debut album Doomscroll set the underground ablaze, the Dublin four-piece returns with a scorched-earth anthem for an era of denial.
If the current explosion of Irish guitar music has a dark, distorted center, it likely resides within Naked Lungs. After three years of relative silence following their critically acclaimed 2023 debut Doomscroll, the Dublin-based noise-rock outfit has officially broken cover. Their new single, “Glitter,” arrived February 19, and it’s a visceral reminder of why they’ve become one of the most feared and respected live acts on the circuit.
Produced with the kind of “teeth-gritting tension” that has become their trademark, “Glitter” doesn’t just ask for your attention—it demands it. The track opens with a high-adrenaline, groove-heavy guitar line that feels like a coiled spring before snapping into a crushing, caustic second act. It’s the sound of a band that has spent their hiatus refining their ability to weaponize volume.
While the sonics are brutal, the message behind “Glitter” is equally sharp. Vocalist Tom Brady isn’t interested in pleasantries, using the track to dissect the modern penchant for looking the other way.
“Glitter is about denial—watching people bury their heads in the sand to hide from the chaos right in front of them,” Brady says. “Integrity got left behind, quick fixes took over, and real accountability became indifference. The world is on fire, and too many are asking, ‘Why should I care?’”
Naked Lungs didn’t just stumble into their “heroically brutal” reputation. Before they even had a formal release to their name, they were selling out headline shows in Dublin and earning the “spicy” seal of approval from internet tastemaker Anthony Fantano.
Their trajectory has been a steady climb through the trenches of the UK BBBand European festival circuits, by the time they landed a spot on the NME 100, it was clear that Naked Lungs weren’t just another noise band—they were the “next noise rock heroes” of a country currently producing a surplus of them.
“Glitter” marks the beginning of a prolific new chapter for the band. After a period of “fervent writing,” the group has signaled that this single is merely the first in a series of releases slated for 2026. If “Glitter” is any indication, the rest of the year is going to be very loud, very heavy, and entirely impossible to ignore.
“Glitter” is available now on Spotify.
