Kaytranada
Kaytranada is back, and he’s ready to hit the dance floor with a brand new album, Ain’t No Damn Way!, set for release this Friday, August 15. Following his Grammy-nominated 2024 album Timeless, this new full-length promises a return to the Canadian producer’s roots in dance music, with tracks designed to make you move. The first taste of the album arrives tonight at midnight with the release of the lead single, “Space Invader.”
For those who’ve been eagerly anticipating more from the genre-blending artist, Ain’t No Damn Way! is shaping up to be another electrifying project. The album’s cover art has already generated buzz, but little else is known about the tracklist just yet. What we do know is that Kaytranada is making music with the dance floor in mind, and with Timeless still fresh in everyone’s minds, expectations are high. This announcement comes just in time for his upcoming tour with French electronic duo Justice. The two icons of the genre are set to co-headline a North American tour, kicking off October 16 in Vancouver and wrapping up in Miami on November 16. The 12-stop trek will bring Kaytranada’s electric live show to major arenas across the continent, including stops in Chicago, New York, and Portland.
The timing of Ain’t No Damn Way! couldn’t be better. After the release of Timeless Instrumentals and his collaboration with British pop trio FLO on “The Mood” earlier this year, Kaytranada is poised to further cement his place as one of dance music’s premier artists. The album follows a year of immense success, with Timeless receiving widespread acclaim from outlets like DJ Mag, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone. The latter publication even declared Kaytranada’s innovative sound has “subtly shifted the sound of pop culture.”
Though the full tracklist for Ain’t No Damn Way! is yet to be revealed, anticipation is already at a fever pitch. Will it continue his boundary-pushing production style? Or will he double down on a more traditional, dance-floor-driven sound? Based on his track record, both are likely on the table.
For now, fans can take a sneak peek at what’s to come with “Space Invader”, and if the energy of this new single is any indication, Ain’t No Damn Way! will definitely be a must-listen when it drops later this week.
