Marshmello and Jelly Roll
Marshmello has never been one to color inside the lines—and his latest collaboration proves he’s still erasing the boundaries between genres. Today, the GRAMMY®-nominated producer dropped his newest single, “Holy Water,” a moving, genre-blending anthem featuring country powerhouse Jelly Roll. The track is out now via Mercury Records/Big Loud Records.
A surprising but seamless pairing, “Holy Water” finds Marshmello diving headfirst into country territory with raw emotion and rich, rootsy instrumentation. The producer plays 12-string guitar, baritone guitar, and mandolin himself, layering them over his signature synths and a propulsive beat. The result is a stirring backdrop for Jelly Roll’s gravel-soaked vocals as he delivers the aching chorus: “One tear for the brokenhearted, pour out a little holy water.”
“It’s really heartfelt,” Marshmello shared in a statement. “This is one of the most emotional songs I’ve ever released. It’s about losing a loved one—something so many of us go through. When I played the early version for Jelly Roll, he immediately connected to it. That energy pushed me to go even deeper with the production and the country feel.”
For Jelly Roll, it’s another genre-defying chapter in a career that’s already rewritten the Nashville rulebook. The five-time GRAMMY® nominee and Billboard 200 chart-topper brings unfiltered passion and storytelling grit to “Holy Water,” further cementing his place as a cross-genre juggernaut.
The single also marks Marshmello’s second foray into country, following his 2024 chart-busting collaboration with Kane Brown, “Miles On It”—the first song in history to debut at No. 1 on both the Top Dance/Electronic Songs and Top Country Songs charts.
“Holy Water” lands amid a prolific run for Marshmello, who’s already dropped three major collaborations this year: “Worlds Apart” (feat. AR/CO), “Save My Love” (with Ellie Goulding & AVAION), and “Slow Motion” (with Jonas Brothers). While best known for his mask and EDM roots, the producer has become a sonic chameleon, crafting hits with artists ranging from Halsey and Juice WRLD to P!nk and Bastille.
Jelly Roll, fresh off the success of his Beautifully Broken album—which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200—is having a landmark year of his own. The Nashville native continues to dominate across rock, country, and Christian charts, all while expanding into film, television, and sports appearances.
Together, Marshmello and Jelly Roll turn “Holy Water” into more than a genre experiment—it’s a powerful reminder of music’s emotional universality. Heartbreak, hope, and healing all collide in one of 2025’s most unexpected—and unforgettable—collaborations.
